It's official: LSU will replace first year DL Coach Andre Carter with USC's Jamar Cain, now set to become the Tigers' new trench mastermind, adding the title of "run game coordinator" alongside DL Coach.
Cain spent the past 2 years at Oklahoma before joining Lincoln Riley's USC Trojans on December 6th; but now, he's "Lincoln Riley'd Lincoln Riley" and will now change course, heading to Baton Rouge.
Geaux 247 were suspecting Arkansas DL chief Derrick LeBlanc would become the next man after Carter, however Cain's name has now jumped off the screen....and LSU's #1 DL prospect from the 2022 Class is on board.
Cain has recruited multiple four star talents in his last few years, including 2020's #1 DT Perrion Winfrey, Clayton Smith, and Kelvin Gilliam.
His defensive line unit have produced 70 combined sacks over the past 2 seasons at Oklahoma, while DL Ronnie Perkins grabbed 5.5 sacks and "Cain student" Nick Bonitto pulled in 8 sacks, both given All Big 12 Honors.
Cain's 2020 DL earned top 25 national rankings for INTs (3rd), opponent third-down conversion % (4th, 27.9), sacks per game (7th at 3.4), rushing defense (9th at 105.1 ypg), pass efficiency defense (9th at 112.9), opponent yards per rush (19th at 3.5) and tackles for loss per game (22nd at 7.4).
I am told Cain is "100% a Matt House hire".
He spent time at Arizona State University, leading their 2019 defense to 6 turnovers during a game vs Florida State & significantly improved running defense, only allowing 3.5 yards per rush and 124 yards on the ground per game.
