CADEN DURHAM USAGE
Ever since former Florida State running game coordinator & TEs Coach Alex Atkins joined Brian Kelly's 2025 LSU staff, freshman sensation RB Caden Durham's incredible home run hitting agility, track star pace, and next level vision has been utilized within a bunch of counter packages, a play design aimed to get the defensive front to react one way, before the running back bounces the run the complete other direction, igniting with a brilliant cut from the running back led by pulling offensive linemen.
It's a play tailmormade for Durham's skill set and I think we'll see many different variations, themes and pieces of the counter play in the offense going ahead, becoming the bread and butter of a running game that is starting to bring in play packages that take advantage of Durham's breathtaking abilities, elevating the ground attack to untold heights.
ZAVION THOMAS IN THE BACKFIELD MORE & WILDCAT👀👀👀???
We all know about Zavion Thomas' blinding speed, but we are now starting to see his versatility put to use.....Zavion is in the backfield so much lately, usually motioning in from out wide, we may need to start calling him a running back as much as he is a receiver.
While receivers Barion Brown and Aaron Anderson both possess many of these similar qualities, it's obvious offensive coordinator team Joe Sloan & Cortez Hankton really like Thomas in this hybrid role.
Zavion even took direct snaps on a few plays....
In 2024, Thomas displayed these capabilities when he scored a receiving touchdown, a kickoff return score, as well as scoring from a jet sweep in the backfield during limited involvement last season.
Thomas scored multiple touchdowns during today's Tuesday practice, taking his known tally to 9 TDs this Spring so far (although admittedly a few of these came during red zone drills).
O-LINE
New O-lineman transfer Josh Thompson started at right tackle and played at that spot the entire practice. He looked comfortable, but Brad Davis got angry with his offensive line losing the day once again to Kyle Williams' D-line during 3 on 3 drills.
"We can't execute for fucking shit!" He reportedly told his players, forcing them to run laps.
DJ Chester & Braelin Moore alternated at center with the 1st team once again, Coach Davis looking for a battle royale between the pair to give LSU the best chance to win, plus a worthy backup with starting experience.
Projected left tackle Tyree Adams impressed vs edge rushing freak Patrick Payton in some 1 v 1 drills, able to hold his own, even while receiving Payton's best.....a very very very good sign for LSU fans worried about QB Garrett Nussmeier's blindside.
Adams lost one drill to 2nd year Tiger Gabe Reliford before regaining the high ground on the next rep, knocking Reliford over.
Braelin Moore suffered an ankle injury at one point, but was able to resume practice.
COOLEY OUT? ROGERS IN
With Tamarcus Cooley out of practice, 2nd year Tiger DB Joel Rogers took his place alongside Javien Toviano and produced strong play at the backend, getting his hand on a pass during coverage, as well as shoring up some strong stops in the run game.
Rogers' closing speed is a thing of beauty, too, make sure to watch how physical he is at safety. Head Coach Brian Kelly already namedropped Rogers as a young Tiger who is impressing him.

Exciting stuff. I am hoping with all this O Line depth and ability the coaches will find the right combination. To me, that is key now that we have Adkins to help with the run game.
