LSU NEWS ROUNDUP: JABOREE ANTOINE COMMITS, JALIL MUHAMMAD PREDICTION, AUSTIN THOMAS RETURNS + MORE

By LONN PHILLIPS SULLIVAN

-LSU's new DL Coach Bo Davis (doesn't that sound great?) just offered a JUCO DT/DE possessing promise & versatility at a position of major need:

Garden City's Jalil Muhammad picked up an offer from Coach Davis following a superb 2023 season, posting 43 Tackles, 15.5 TFLs, 10 Sacks & 3 Forced Fumbles (here's a link to his film).

Interesting factoid: Muhammad rose from the same junior college as former Tiger DL Ali Gaye.

From all indications, including our own discussions with the player, I believe the Fairburn, Georgia-born D-lineman is close to signing for LSU.

-This weekend, the Tigers grabbed their first big commitment of Corey Raymond's new era, earning a verbal pledge from elite Westgate CB Jaboree Antoine, a distinguished member of Louisiana's steambreathing 2025 class.

Capturing 5 interceptions and breaking up 11 passes at corner, while also playing QB on offense, Antoine is a big time commitment won by lead recruiter Frank Wilson....sealing yet another top 10 in-state prospect and continuing LSU's unbelievable hot streak on the recruiting trail.

-Red shirt junior DB Sage Ryan is training & meeting with the safeties now, back to his original position for the first time as a Tiger.

-According to ESPN analyst Mel Kiper's latest mock draft, the 2023 Tigers' offense will garner 3 first round picks:

Jayden Daniels protected at #2 overall to the Washington Commanders (my NFL team...I would be overjoyed), Malik Nabers #6 to the NY Giants, and Brian Thomas Jr surging all the way up Draft boards to #14, staying at home as a New Orleans Saint.

-LSU will welcome former GM Austin Thomas back to the program after 2 seasons away.

Once again, Kelly hires another 2021 staffer he previously let go (joining Raymond, Baker and Olsen).

This move comes in the wake of LSU losing Director of Player Personnel Will Redmond to Auburn, possibly a forced move due to Kelly's new direction or a new direction forced upon Kelly by Redmond's move.

Either way, a familiar and much liked figure is back in Baton Rouge.

Thomas helped establish the 2019 LSU juggernaut as well as helping to secure big time 2021 & 2022 class recruits such as Garrett Nussmeier, Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr, Will Campbell & Harold Perkins.
