BREAKING NEWS FROM LSUODYSSEY.COM:
LSU are in desperate need of help at the linebacker position, a room with young talents such as Harold Perkins, Greg Penn III, and freshman Christian Brathwaite.
However, Matt House's linebackers unit are short on depth and experience heading into an off-season where they have already lost 5 linebackers and 2 hybrid types to the NFL Draft or transfer portal.
Now, Coach House has set his eyes on an old contact from his Kentucky days:
Former Oregon State linebacker Omar Speights is in the transfer portal with one year remaining after playing four seasons in Corvalis.
Speights racked up 60+ tackles as a sophomore before totaling over 80 in 2021 and 2022 (83 and 87 respectively), leading the Beavers' defense.
But back in 2017, out of high school in Philadelphia, Speights was a favorite of then-Kentucky defensive coordinator Matt House.
Coach House offered Speights back then, identifying ferocious ability in the rangy linebacker.
Now, years later, House is back to recruit him to LSU....and from what I've been told over the past week, Speights is locked in and now fully expected to sign on as an LSU Tiger.
If he signs, as we are hearing is all but certain, Omar Speights would be a much needed arrival in a room thinning out worse than Michael Stipe's late 80s hairline.
Speights also added 2 fumble recoveries and 2 interceptions, all 4 turnovers created in fall 2021.

Very exciting news; he will bring a talented veteran presence. Weeks younger brother could also be a find.
