Making history by earning the commitment of 2025's #1 overall player & ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ QB Bryce Underwood, LSU just gained yet another future superstar among Joe Sloan's ever-deepening QB room.
The Michigan-born Underwood is the highest ranked QB the Tigers have ever signed, and his capture shines a major light on how well Brian Kelly's staff are recruiting since his late November 2021 arrival.
Starting all 3 seasons at Belleville, from his freshman debut through his junior year this past fall, Underwood led his school to 3 consecutive state title game appearances, winning championships in 2021 & 2022 before narrowly missing out this year.
Nearly throwing for 3,000 yards as a freshman, taking Belleville to the top of high school football as a 9th grader, Bryce Underwood's 6'3 205 frame has always been tabbed for greatness. Throwing for 41 TD passes and 3,615 passing yards during his 2023 junior adventure (adding 7 rushing scores & 199 on the ground), Bryce was just named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Michigan.
Underwood's intensive recruitment was led by QBs Coach Joe Sloan & offensive analyst / specialist Dean Petzing, with an assist from Brian Kelly's son Patrick Kelly, with multiple visits by Underwood & his family to Baton Rouge really sending a lot of positive signals.....especially when you compare his 0 visits to Michigan, a school only 15 minutes away from their home, a program experiencing a 2023/2024 revival as Jim Harbaugh and Co are about to play Washington for their first National Championship since 1997.....and still, their #1 QB wanted nothing to do with Michigan University.
He wanted LSU for some time now....
Underwood now heads the nation's #1 2025 recruiting class, featuring the #1 overall QB, #1 overall WR (Dakorien Moore), #1 overall RB (Harlem Berry), all three 5 stars, as well as a borderline 5 star at LB in Keylan Moses.
The Belleville prospect & current LSU commit is the third 5 star recruit to commit to Kelly's Tigers in less than a week, following on the heels of 2024 5 star Dominick McKinley and 2025 5 star RB Harlem Berry.
