LSU needed plenty of help at defensive tackle this offseason, and with that in mind, the Tigers signed former Texas DT Sydir Mitchell, who suffered an injury-ravaged freshman season in Austin.
Most podcasts, forum hounds, group chat junkies or college football analysts looked at his low level snap count history and believed Mitchell wasn't cut out to start for LSU. Yet during Spring, Mitchell surprised even this author (who did not discount him) & proved so many (who did) wrong with some strong, savage performances, impressing new DL Coach Kyle Williams.
But now, Mitchell's injury woes may have returned, going down during a rep in practice this morning with a fresh lower body injury (LSUOdyssey will choose not to disclose where).
While there is great news regarding the accelerated recovery of Jacobian Guillory, if this injury is long term, it is a prime hit for LSU's defensive tackle room....
Already short & shorn of depth, Mitchell, the only DT the Tigers were able to sign out of the portal, is now also hurt....
LSUOdyssey will keep you updated with the latest on Sydir Mitchell.
