LSU welcomed former NC State nickel / safety Tamarcus Cooley on to campus and from LSUOdyssey sources, LSU has now signed Cooley, the former NC State DB signing as the newest member of DBU (now confirmed).
LSUOdyssey covered Cooley in detail during our Friday show here and said amid that show "we've heard Cooley is the top pick" among the 5 DBs LSU are currently targeting....with 2 more targets still in the final four of the CFP Playoffs.
Fresh off a visit to Ole Miss & Kentucky, Cooley signed with LSU and adds serious heft at a much needed position. He enjoyed his time in Baton Rouge, headlined by news of early relationships being forged with Corey Raymond, Frank Wilson, Blake Baker, and his position coach Jake Olsen.
If you check out our Friday show, I tell the world Cooley was my favorite of these recent 5 defensive back targets, mostly due to his incendiary year at NC State, his second in college:
Intercepting 3 passes, breaking up 6 passes, forcing 2 fumbles, recovering another fumble, posting 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 39 total tackles, although this last season Cooley featured at nickel on most snaps, lined up at free safety for only 39 plays.
