    Showcasing time and time again why he was a must have signing for LSU's 2025 class, freshman cornerback DJ Pickett is already announcing himself as a true force to be reckoned with, ripping multiple interceptions out of the sky during Spring practices, displaying technique and agility in coverage beyond his years, the former Zephyr Hills #1 nationally rated CB prospect is everything you were told and then some.

       Maybe Pickett won't start in Year 1, however, even if he doesn't, I can envision a significant role for the debutant, not merely due to Corey Raymond wanting to foster his elite prowess, but also LSU's lack of depth at the cornerback position necessitating his inclusion at key moments (one would think) this upcoming season.

       He's too lengthy, too technique-sound, and increasingly ball hawking to keep off the field, but remember....as ready to start as Harold Perkins and Whit Weeks were as freshmen, major injuries needed to occur before Head Coach Brian Kelly would play those two.......this is a Head Coach, and his longtime staff, who don't relish playing freshmen....

      But in all reality, DJ Pickett is different...LSU needed a stunner like him at the cornerback spot, they've got him on campus, he's excelling, he's invested.....you would think Kelly understands the unshakeable truth: by the end of his 3 years at LSU, Pickett could very well be among the 5 best defenders the 40 year veteran Head Coach has ever coached; Plus, Corey Raymond conjured championship magic from a superstar freshman corner once before...will history repeat???

Telling Tiger fans he has his eyes on the prize, the Zephyrhills, Florida native posted his desire to become a firm part of that pioneering group of DBU on his social media; Aiming to join an elite top tier group mostly recruited, developed & coached by Coach Raymond (Derek Stingley Jr, Kristian Fulton, Greedy Williams, Jalen Collins, and Donte Jackson among others), Pickett is now on the right trajectory for ultimate success, but he can still get better:

DJ must add some steel to his slender frame, some beef to the upper body, some meat on the legs in order to survive the hard-hitting SEC, and then follow his opportunities through...take advantage of every chance he's given, every target his way, make an emphatic mark on every snap...

      It will be thrilling to witness his progression over the next 3 years and possibly beyond, as Pickett is sure to become a superb DBU representative in the present & future for some time to come;

With #3 as Raymond's young cornerstone, Tiger fans are witnessing the launch of a new era of DBU dominion after years of vacant play & listless performances....there is a new pulse operating the Tigers' thunderous DBU beat, with DJ Pickett's ambition and eminent coverage talents remaining at the core of that present & future vision.
