BREAKING NEWS FROM LSUODYSSEY.COM:
LSU's 4th year Tight end Jack Mashburn and his family have informed LSUOdyssey.com that he will leave the program due to a medical retirement.
Mashburn appeared in 27 games with 4 starts, set up Ty Davis-Price's single game rushing record performance vs. Florida, his 1,000 yard season and became a cult fan favorite.
Many will remember his fake punt catch vs. Alabama in 2021, a play that made Sportscenter.
Mashburn walked on at LSU in 2019, witnessing every moment of their National Championship season; soon enough, Jack worked hard enough to earn a scholarship under Coach Ed Orgeron.
In 2021, Mashburn became a key component of LSU's offense. The Tigers went from rushing for 353 yards in their first 5 games to 1,130 yards in their final 7....what was the major difference?
Mashburn starting as a full back / tight end hybrid blocking machine.
Affectionately known as "Smashburn", Jack will graduate this May from LSU and leaves the program as a champion, a beloved teammate, and a fan favorite.
