Throughout the Tigers' last few games, LSU senior linebacker West Weeks faced a tough decision:
Dealing with an ailing ankle, minimizing his involvement after a strong start to the season alongside younger brother Whit, the former Virginia transfer & Georgia-native watched as he missed one game after another due to his ankle, and now, after only appearing across 3 games, LSU's coaching staff approached West with an idea that may just be the perfect solution for West's injury situation.
According to LSUOdyssey.com sources, West Weeks will now obtain a red shirt for the 2024 season, with one eye cast towards a future starting spot alongside Whit in 2025, although it won't be the last we'll see of him in 2024:
Due to NCAA regulations, West Weeks can still play in one more regular season game, as well as staying eligible for any and all future postseason play for the Tigers.....quite possibly the perfect prescription for a situation that was beginning to look dire for the injured senior linebacker's NFL opportunities, while also affording the two Weeks Brothers another full season together at LSU.
It's been a big week for the Weeks family, as West's little brother Whit just took home the SEC's Defensive Player of the Week after his 18 tackles, 2 TFLs, 2 QB pressures, 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 PBU performance vs Ole Miss.

This is wonderful!
Sounds like a good plan that both sides support.
