One of LSU's most promising portal arrivals from their 16 man transfer haul, wide receiver Barion Brown could become a central target for QB Garrett Nussmeier, supplying a versatile, silky smooth "Percy Harvin-esque" skill set to Joe Sloan / Cortez Hankton's offense, while also boasting an incendiary resume as a kickoff returner.
The former Kentucky star isn't just a flashy profile, Barion is a big game talent, making the difference last fall during Kentucky's upset @ top 10 Ole Miss, also racking up 115 return yards (within a poor Wildcats offense) and a kickoff return for a touchdown vs Florida.

Over three seasons at Kentucky, Brown recorded four 100 yard games & 11 receiving TDs, 2 rushing TDs (195 yards on the ground), and 5 kickoff return touchdowns, leading the SEC with a trio of return scores in 2023.
During his freshman season in 2022, Barion Brown notably showcased his receiving pedigree vs #1 Georgia, reeling off 145 yards, 10 receptions & 1 TD throughout a 16-6 loss vs Kirby Smart's back to back National Championship squad.
Yes, Barion's career Wildcat numbers may suggest the new #LSU #6 is more raw as a receiver on the surface (only 361 yards & 3 TDs last year, adding over 400 as a returner), and yes, maybe he'll need a few games at LSU to find his footing, although w/ QB Garrett Nussmeier & Brown already displaying tremendous chemistry, as Brown pulls off a host of different catches from impressive route running, it's clear Brown never played w/ a next level quarterback at Kentucky....now he is.....& Brown continues to flourish alongside Nussmeier's NFL level arm.

According to a program source, the LSU coaching staff feel "extremely confident" about his receiving prowess & potential to become yet another WRU superstar....much in the same mold as 2023 LSU record breakers & 1st Round picks Malik Nabers or Brian Thomas Jr, the latest in a long line of juggernaut LSU receivers to hit the NFL.
When all of the dots are connected, even as Cortez Hankton's room is replete with prospective future NFL talents, it's easy to see Brown as a legitimate contender for LSU's WR1 spot this fall, if not an odds-on favorite...and even if he doesn't become Nussmeier's most favored target over the course of the season, Barion Brown's versatility and athleticism is likely to have an indelible impact upon the tempo & expansiveness of LSU's 2025 offensive attack.
